Kansas Hunt-Patrick and Jaime~

Lets just start this one out with Jaime is girl...never hunted, never even shot a gun before. Low and behold I have an arsonal of game slaying equipment. She was set up with Mossberg 12 Guage Pump. I took her out to the range and hell, its easy to teach a woman to shoot a gun. Later on that day we decided to roost the turkeys. I had been watching a group that was hanging around in a alpha alpha field located in the bottom of two hills. I had seen at least 7 or 8 nice three year old Toms and one very cool albino hen. We roosted the turkeys and made sure to locate them. We did this by standing on top of one of the big hills...well I knew she could shoot the gun, but I didn't know how I was going to keep her still, even though we have great camo and I am a seasoned hunter. I decided we should make a small ground blind on a barb wire fence out of pine limbs...luckily we had a nice tree to sit up against...and hell there was no way we were going to get busted....The next morning we were late and the turkeys were already coming off the roost...So I looked at her and asked her if she was ready for what we had to do next. She says lets do it. So I explained to her we were going to be low crawling nearly 100 yards to our blind. Luckily a few turkeys were near our blind and we got hid out in the middle of the pasture we were crawling in for a half our or so. Finally the turkeys moved off. We made it to our blind and I began calling...The Toms were all henned up and wouldn't come to our calls... So I decided to do something retarded, but turned out to be genius... The turkeys were were in the alpha alpha field but could not see me due to a slight grade between us...To add to that the Kansas wind was howling like crazy...So I left her back at the blind and low crawled to the top of the slight grade just enough to see the turkeys...I noticed the hens were going back to nest for the day, so I pulled out my hen decoy and my jake and placed them there. I made a few calls and hell I got all the toms attention....They were trotting toward the jake and then hen....I left the jake in the same spot and the hen I help up just enough so I looked like she was walking away...when I couldn't see the toms anymore...I high crawled as fast as I could and put that damn hen decoy about 3 yards away....Unfortunately for the jake decoy...he took a pretty good beating, but what do you expect from four exceptional toms. Jaime couldnt believe her eyes...they were coming straight toward us...spitting and drumming the whole bit...These birds were close enough you could see the hair on there heads...she had the barrel of the shotgun resting on the fence...I told her she needed to shoot the 2 one on the left...but the gun was snagged...OH I FORGOT TO MENTION I AM FILMING ALL OF THIS TOO, AND CALLING, AND i HAVE A GUN TOO....she says she can't...and I said woman, just sit up, put the bead on his head and squeeze one off....NOW....Kaboom, I can here her rack another shell in...I tell you what...theres nothing sexier than seing a 5 foot 5 light brown hair, brown eyed attractive one, smile in excitment with a bruised shoulder, cheek, and freezing her butt off....End result she got a 24 pount turkey, inch and a quarter spurs and a 9.5 inch beard....we took pictures. One of my most memorable hunts ever.

Great story Patric, Thanks for sharing. I always get more enjoyment from helping some one else get the first bird or deer or anything for that matter ;)
