Well folks, this buck is called the "Shotgun" buck. One early morning during deer rifle season in Kansas my buddy jonah and I were out pheasant hunting. We we walking on opposite sides of a hedge row trying to flush pheasants when we can to a small ditch crossing the hedgeline. I saw a deer laying in the ditch, head down, and looked dead. But I was close enough I could see it breathe and its eyes were closed. And we all no it aint like the movies...you die your eyes are open. At the time I was only equiped my 20 gauge pump shotgun loaded with number 7 shells. Luckily I am a Kansas boy and I am always prepared. In my hunting vest, I had two buckshot shells. So I ejected my loaded round exchanged it with the buckshot and I fired one round in the bucks neck. He jumped up almost mowing over jonah, ran about 100 yards and expired.....so we named hime shotgun buck...no pheants either...this was about ten years ago...so I had to buy a replacement cape...all feedback welcome and appreciated...thanks guys/gals.

First thing you need to do is get some good reference photos and use them when working on mounts. How many deer have you mounted? Ok from what i see in the pics you need to work on brisket placement, eye shape, nose shape and pad placement, Ears and ear butts, Lip line, Here's my suggestion. Next time you mount a deer watch my videos as you go, Eventualy it will get there, If you have any Questions feel free to ask.

thanks for the message...this is my first mount...ill look in depth in the videos...i had picked out most of your suggestions and thats through trial and error. the mistakes on lips..i believe were do to dremmeling the slot to wide wich allowed the to pull out out as it dried...im not quite sure what I did wrong with the nose other than...I feel that deer had a relatively small nose pad compared to most others...I now see the eyes need to be slightly higher on the top ear lid closer to the nose..and lower on the bottom lid closer to the ear...i also realize i left a helluva lot of ear butt material out of the ear butts....and damn those ears...I never realized bondo set up so fast...hahahaha...and as far as the brisket...does it appear everything is kind of twisted counter clockwise....does all this sound about right...thanks again.
